Ipsy Glam Bag

By  |

I signed up for my Ipsy Glam Bag subscription in May 2015 and currently still have it (Jan. 2016), so right there you can already tell that I think it is worth it.  One of my girlfriend’s had been a subscriber for months and insisted I try it, mostly because I had been wearing the exact same brands of make up since junior high.  I’d never found anything I liked better.  For the affordable price of $10 a month I had to do it!

How Ipsy works:  You sign up and take a profile quiz asking you about your skin tone, skin color, eye color, makeup preferences, brand preferences, etc.  Once a month you get sent an Ipsy package with a little makeup bag inside which contains 4-5 samples or in some cases, full size products.

Here are my thoughts on what I love about it, and what I… don’t love.

Pros

  • I have found some of my new all time favorite products in my Ipsy Glam Bag!  My new favorite eyeliner, mascara, lip gloss, tinted moisturizer and moisturizer.
  • I’m saving money on products I don’t end up loving.  Since I was a teenager I have tried so many different brands of all these things, spending hundreds, probably thousands of dollars on product that I ended up wasting because it wasn’t better than what I was already using.
  • Brands I would’ve never tried before have become my new go-to.  Tarte is the brand of mascara and lip gloss that I fell in love with.  Now that I have found 2 products within 1 brand that have been a game changer for me, I have experimented with more of their make up and have found even more favorites!
  • It is budget friendly!  Where else would I be able to try so many products and have it be this affordable?
  • It’s exciting to get my bright pink bubble package in the mail every month.  It’s like Christmas to receive something I get to play with later when the kids go to bed!
  • The products that come from Ipsy are pretty affordable when you want to replace your sample.  They offer discounts on their website as well.

Cons

  • There have been MANY items that I have absolutely no interest in, especially because of color.  You set up a profile at the beginning with what you like and don’t like, but sometimes it’s not quite right.  Bright red lip stuff is not “natural”.  You can review things so that they match you better, but I don’t remember to, nor do I have a lot of time to. I end up gathering all of the items I don’t need and give them to my sister.  Then she gets fun stuff too and since she has a totally different color palette than I do, it works out.
  • Sometimes I only get 1 item that I will actually use.
  • The bags can be pretty cheap sometimes.

As you can see, there aren’t a whole lot of cons.  I have only been slightly disappointed a couple times, otherwise I have always found that the $10 I spend has covered the items that I love.  After YEARS of looking for a decent mascara and moisturizer and now finally finding them, I have definitely gotten my money’s worth!
