In My Gym Bag

By  |

I have been in the gym every day for years and that is why I have the most complete list of what you should have in your gym bag!  This doesn’t include a shower list, but I will save that for another post.

I try to keep it simple because an over-crowded bag leads to lost and sometimes forgotten items.  I’ll also throw in, that my bag – the black patent bag posted- is the size of a large purse.  I don’t have a job to go to or come from, so I don’t need a full size duffle with an extra change of clothes and shoes.

In My Gym Bag

So here it is!  All of my gym bag essentials that make it so I am never left with any excuse to not workout or leave the gym being completely nasty.

This black patent GYM bag by Trumpette is so cute and a very practical size.  I wish it came with a bottle holder, but that is the only thing I would change.

Items:

Tampons.  We all need them, so don’t leave home without them.  I keep an extra box at the gym for my clients and that baby gets used up fast because you really aren’t thinking about when it’s going to come.

Gloves.  I prefer these Under Armour gloves.  They cost more compared to some other brands, but the $20 investment was well worth it considering I have used them every day for 3 years.  Some people think it’s not hardcore to use gloves, but I like my nice soft girl hands 🙂

Water bottle.  This is a given.  You need water.  I like the Camelbak bottles because they are cute, leak proof and when I’m doing fast cardio I don’t stab myself in the mouth with a straw or spill water down the front of myself like I would with an open bottle.  Maybe I’m just extra uncoordinated, but this has happened to me more times than I can count.

Bath & Body Works Spray.  This feels very high school of me to still use these, but you can’t get any more convenient than the mini styles that Bath & Body Works carry.  Sometimes I stink and have to go run errands afterwards.  I’d rather smell like a bowl of fruit than BO.  Extra deodorant is never a bad idea to carry as well!

Chapstick.  Dry lips during a workout just irritates me so I always carry chapstick.  Burts Beeswax and Cherry Carmex are my go-to!

Headphones.  I LOVE these wood earbuds that a client of mine gave me for Christmas!  They are noise-canceling and deliver this really awesome crisp sound.  Really, any headphones will do as long as you don’t have to complete your workout in silence, but if you are looking for the best, I recommend wood!

Headband. I don’t like when my hair touches my face when I workout, so headbands and extra ponytail bands are always a necessity.  I keep several extra because I have broken mine during a workout and had to use a pencil to keep my hair up.  Apparently I need 5 back ups.

Face Cleansing Wipes.  Most of the time I will not be able to take a shower right after a workout because I am running around all day long, but I like to make sure I’m at least feeling fresh, so I wash my face with one of these wipes and then afterwards do a quick armpit swipe.

Almond Butter Packet.  I keep these single serving packets in every purse and gym bag as well as my desk at work.  My blood sugar tanks sometimes and I get super hangry, so these save me until I can get a real meal.

A few extras not picturedUnderwear – I don’t feel like I need to explain.  GumSupplements – protein powder/bar, BCAAS.  Notepad – track workouts or ideas.  Socks – because working out without socks is… just eww!

I would love to hear what you think of my list!  What do you keep in your gym bag?  Was there anything on my list that you hadn’t thought of?

Is that a waist trainer or is it like a back support? Or solely just for sweating?
