My Life

28th Birthday!

It feels like just yesterday I was turning 18, so now that I’ve been an adult for a whole decade I had a lot of reminiscing and reflecting to do.  In 2 years I will be 30 and I came to realize how different my life has turned out than I thought it would all those years ago.  The most exciting part though was realizing that my life is SO MUCH better than what I had hoped it would be at this point!  Definitely better, maybe not easier.  Life isn’t perfect and it never will be.  I made a lot of mistakes and quite often took the hard and stubborn road, but I learned a lot from it.  Many people I know wish that they could go back and relive their “glory days,” but now I’m taking a stand to say “MAKE THESE YOUR GLORY DAYS!”  Why can’t you have the life you always wanted?  Why is it ever too late?  There are still so many things I need to work on and that’s why I love taking some quiet time to truly reflect.  I ask myself, what would I change in my life?  What would I change about myself?  My marriage?  My career?  For my children?  We can’t evolve as people if we get stuck in the past and stop moving forward.

On a less serious note, I had such an amazing birthday!  My birthday most often feels like a curse, not like anything catastrophic happens every year, but just weird life things always get in the way of my plans and I end up completely disappointed.  Probably just a self-fulfilling prophecy, but I wasn’t going to let that happen this year!  I went into work Saturday morning (actual birthday day) and was surprised by my friend and a bunch of clients with gifts, 28+ balloons, a gorgeous bouquet of roses and a huge cupcake!  By the way, I ate about half of it and cupcake makes a great pre-workout 🙂

*Side note:  I am not completely vain to have a huge picture of myself in my own office.  This is Ryan’s office and I only work in it a couple hours a week.  I have my own office I work out of at home that does not have pictures of myself in it… yet…

After work and working out, Ryan brought the boys into the gym and I got a huge handmade card and this beautiful necklace!  I am so in love with it!

I took the boys home and went swimming, did my nails and got ready for a glorious 3 hours alone for my hair appointment!  I was over the dark/red so I lightened it up as much as we could with some caramel ombre.  We got all dressed up and ended up with our friends at The Perch.  It is this awesome restaurant/bar in downtown Chandler.  Even the “inside” is outdoors and has all of these tropical trees and birds!  Awesome food too!

I love that aztec skirt I had on!  The sequins are uncomfortable, but so worth it.  Afterwards we wandered over to Vintage 95 which is a wine bar with live music, had another quick drink and headed back to our friend Jake’s house for life size truth or dare jenga, swimming, and a pinata full of fireworks and candy!  They sure know how to spoil a girl.  I had an amazing time, aside from the touch of stomach bug that started mid-afternoon and that I still have today (Monday). :'(  I’m not counting it as another birthday fail though because I was able to rally and still have an awesome time!  I am so lucky to have such amazing people in my life and I am reminded once again that they are what makes my life so special to me.
